two rides this weekend

This weekend there are two rides to do - one or both!

On Saturday we will have a perennial club favourite - the Stanley - Rawdon ride.  This ride will assemble at the St. Croix carpool parking lot located at Exit 4 off Highway 101 at St Croix.  Take the exit off the highway and turn left at the stop sign, and proceed a couple hundred meters to the carpool parking lot near the overpass.Scheduled departure time is 10AM.  Scheduled distance is 85km.  Maps and cue sheets will be distributed at the start.

We will head north towards Brooklyn and Burlington, then toward Stanley and Rawdon.  The route is mostly inland, away from cold sea breezes.

On Sunday April 18th, there is a great group ride in the Annapolis Valley, called the "Wolfville - Roubaix".  This ride is attended by fifty or sixty roadies and road enthusiasts, some are racers, some are riders.  The ride will assemble at the parking lot of the Allen apple juice factory in Port Williams, just across the Cornwallis River from Wolfville.  Take Exit 11 off Highway 101 and head north and cross the river into Port Williams.  Turn right onto the Starrs Point Road and the parking area is a couple hundred meters from the corner.

The Roubaix commemorates the Paris - Roubaix bicycle race in France which is one of the "spring classics".  The Wolfville Roubaix includes some segments of gravel road in its route.  The first 30 km is a group ride at a modest pace, in a "peleton".  After 30km, the ride devolves into a race for the speedy and a ride for the rest of us.  Corners are marked with arrows after the 30km point, hard to get lost.  Total distance is around 80km.  This ride is a lot of fun.  Again, carpooling is encouraged.
