Hi folks – OK, it’s brevet season. Our first Saturday brevet of the year is scheduled for this Saturday, May 11th.
Link to the route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26513276
This ride will assemble in Windsor in the gravel parking lot near the Windsor Waterfront Tim Horton’s. Please don’t park on the pavement as it’s a busy spot – park near the roadway on the gravel area please.
Our scheduled departure time is 8AM. Please take note.
We’re heading up the Bog Road to Ben Jackson Road to Avonport, then up the Gaspereau Valley to White Rock then down into Kentville for our first controle stop. Departing Kentville on Route 12 south, we climb the South Mountain to ride backroads past Gaspereau Lake and Aylesford Lake to Lake Paul – a fairly scenic route – then south to Franey Corner to New Ross for our second controle stop. Then a quick run down to Chester Basin and up Route 14 through Vaughan back to Windsor again. Some of us will be visiting the Spitfire Arms after the ride for lies and libations.
As this is a brevet – I request that riders notify me of their intention to participate by THURSDAY EVENING so that I may prepare brevet cards for you. This brevet does not require lights and reflective clothing as we will be off the road before darkness, but daytime running lights and bright clothing are a good idea. Beginning with the 300 in two weeks time, lights and reflective gear will be mandatory – more on that, later.
Anyone wishing to earn an ACP 200k medal for this ride is requested to bring along $15 cash for the medal to the start of the ride.
Planning to see many familiar faces on Saturday!
