Hi folks – this Saturday we have a pretty casual day ride in Hants County. No lights, no brevet cards…
The current forecast is for a pretty warm day, so this ride features a swim stop at the Cheverie Kempt Quarry Recreation Site – which, if you haven’t visited it before, is quite a nice spot for a swim – an former gypsum quarry with deep clear water and picnic tables etc.
This ride is entitled, “Cheverie – Woodville”. Link to the route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29022411
I’ve modified the routing slightly so if you have previously downloaded the route to a gps device, please delete it and use this one.
We’ll meet at the ubiquitous St Croix Carpool parking lot, located just off Exit 4 off Highway 101 – take the exit and turn left at the stop sign, the carpool lot is beside the Route 1 underpass. Departure time is 10AM. As always, carpooling is encouraged.
We’ll head out through Brooklyn to Ashdale and Scotch Village on the way to Cheverie on the Fundy Shore; then at the 49km point we’ll stop at the quarry for a swim – bring a towel and a bathing suit if you plan to go in for a dip.
Just so you won’t get sweaty, we’ll roll five easy km down the road to Summerville where we’ll have a lunch stop at the famous Flying Apron Cookery – a really nice spot if you haven’t been there before. Afterward we’ll continue south back to Brooklyn and St Croix again.
There’s a distinct possibility of a visit to Windsor to perhaps the Spitfire or perhaps Schoolhouse Brewery afterwards.
Hope to see you there!Attachments area
