Hi folks – so the 24-hour Fleche ride has been cancelled due to lack of interest.
So I am proposing an easy club ride instead in the Annapolis Valley on Saturday June 1st.
Here we go.
I’m calling this ride the “Huntington Point Ramble”. Link to the route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30115813 distance is a moderate 86km
We shall assemble at the parking lot near the Port Pub in Port Williams. Park at the far northern end of the parking area as this gets busy later in the day. Plan to depart at 10AM.
It’s apple blossom weekend in the Valley, so we’re not going anywhere near Kentville or Wolfville. The apple blossoms may or may not be out yet since it’s been a cold wet spring, but if they are, it will be spectacular.
We’ll head out to Starr’s Point and Pereau, toward Canning and Kingsport on our way to the Lookoff. We’ll then follow the brow of the mountain along Gospel Woods Road before descending into Hall’s Harbour for lunch at the seafood restaurant there (or bring your own). After lunch, we’ll go about a mile down a gravel road to Huntington Point, where there is an amazing collection of hand-sculpted colourfully-painted concrete houses built 80 years ago. https://www.historicplaces.ca/en/rep-reg/place-lieu.aspx?id=4119https://valleyfamilyfun.ca/huntington-point/
We’ll then head back into the valley through Centerville on our way back to Port Williams. Beers may be consumed afterwards.
Hope to see a few of you out on Saturday!
