Saturday’s ride to Hubbards and back was lovely in so many ways! A trio of us set out from the rotary after a brief chat with another group gathering to do the Peggy’s Cove loop.. After conquering the first warm-up grind up the hill, we encountered mercifully light winds and surprisingly little traffic out the number 3 lined by spring blooming trees. Taking turns on the front, we had just congratulated ourselves on no issues reaching our intended stop, the Trellis café in Hubbards- when a flat struck! Luckily, Ed is a pro and rectified the situation so before you know it, we were seated on the outdoor patio at the Trellis. Good conversation, plentiful coffee and yummy treats fueled us for the return trip. We had a great bomb down to Queensland beach via Conrad’s Road, in time to see some sun breaking through and turning the water a stunning shade of blue. Leaving the brave souls in the water to enjoy their adventure, we continued ours. Spinning along the sunny shoreline with a tailwind was a real treat, next thing you know we were up through Tantallon, Hubley and onto the quiet Chain of Lakes trail to finish and make our ways back home. Thanks Jesslyn and Ed for the great ride.
Hope to see some of you out there for the next one, another seaside adventure on the South Shore! Shauna
