The ride will take place from Saturday July 6th to Monday July 8th, 2019.
The route takes us along the spectacular shorelines of the South Shore on day one, along the shorelines and valleys of the Bay of Fundy on day two, and through the quiet river valleys of central Nova Scotia on the third day.
For those riders training to ride Paris Brest Paris in August, this will be similar elevation gain per kilometer compared to PBP with gently rolling to rolling terrain.
We will depart from Halifax early Saturday morning and follow the coastline southwest along Route 3 to Mahone Bay then ride quiet rural coastal roads past Lunenburg to Liverpool. We continue along the coastline toward historic Shelburne, then follow coastal roads to Barrington and Pubnico to Yarmouth where we will overnight at a hotel.
The next morning, we ride coastal roads through the French Acadian shoreline through Meteghan to Weymouth and Digby, then visit scenic Bear River and historic Annapolis Royal before crossing the Fundy coastal hills to the spectacular shoreline of the Bay of Fundy, riding through Hampton and Port Lorne and Margaretsville, before heading over the range again into the Annapolis Valley to our second overnight at Coldbrook.
The third morning follows the Gaspereau Valley to Avonport and Hantsport and Windsor, then heads inland along the river valley of the Kennetcook River across Hants County to Maitland; then inland up the Stewiacke River valley and returning to Halifax again along the pastoral Musquodoboit River valley.
For riders from out of province who intend to join us, we can advise you on hotels nearby the starting location – let us know. Hope to see you in July!
