2021 IS OUR 19TH SEASON!
Update as of May 3rd…So COVID has reared its head in Nova Scotia. Obviously the health and welfare of not only our membership but all Nova Scotians is of highest importance as we try to corral and minimize the spread. As such, as of April 27th we have suspended all group rides until further notice. We are hoping to kick-off the spring brevet season on May 22nd with our first 200km brevet, but if case counts remain high and gathering and travel restrictions are still in place, we will have to delay or reduce the number of rides further. We hope that the planned summer brevet season will be able to go ahead with out impact. Keep an eye out for further updates both here and via email. Be safe, wear a mask, wash your hands and wear a mask!
‘Randonneuring’ is long-distance, non-competitive cycling. Riders push their limits to achieve long rides comfortably. The emphasis is on teamwork and efficiency – to arrive at one’s goal, not necessarily first or fastest, but with the most efficient use of one’s resources. Randonneurs can (and do!) travel surprisingly long distances in a day, and have energy to spare!
LONG DISTANCE CYCLING
The heart of the randonneuring club is the ‘brevet’, which is a distance challenge ride to be accomplished within a set period of time. The time limits are generous, (minimum avg of 15 km/hr), but the clock is always running – whether you are riding or stopped, eating or sleeping. Join us for distances of 200, 300, 400, 600 and ultimate challenges of 1000 kms and longer!
ANOTHER FULL CALENDAR
The 2021 Randonneurs Nova Scotia schedule has two (2!!) full brevet series of 200, 300, 400, 600 as well as a 1000km brevet for this year. We also have other rides called ‘Populaires’ which are of varying distances and destinations. Club members will receive an email with information about the upcoming weekend’s ride on the Tuesday or Wednesday before. Sign up below or join our Facebook group.
